Hiking on the gentle grass-covered hills of the Nock Mountains, breathing in the fresh Alpine air, and letting your gaze wander over the valleys below and Lake Turrach. Be inspired by the Alpine flowers growing along hiking trails near our hiking hotel in Carinthia. Rustic mountain huts are perfect for a refreshment.
Leisurely or challenging?
The hiking area on the Turracher Höhe and in the Biosphere Reserve Nockberge in Carinthia offers it all. These hikes are particularly beautiful. All three start right at the doorstep of our hiking hotel in Carinthia.
Leisurely:
The approximately 2-hour 3-lakes hike through forests, to the Grünsee, and further through the high moor at the Schwarzsee.
Scenic:
It will take around 3.5 hours from our hiking hotel in Carinthia to the 2,208-meter-high Schoberriegel, to the Hochschober-Våstlhütte, and the Grünsee.
Challenging:
From the 2,334-meter-high Rinsennock, the highest mountain on the Turracher Höhe, you'll have a wonderful view of the landscape. It's approximately a 5-hour hike.

Two rustic and cosy huts belong to our hiking hotel in Carinthia. The hike to Våstlhütte on the Sam takes about an hour from the hotel. In less than half an hour, you can reach the Karlhütte at the idyllic Grünsee.
Rustic Alpine hut near the Turracher Höhe
The Våstlhütte on the Sam, situated about 1,700 meters above sea level, is open on certain dates and is the ideal destination for a leisurely hike. Depending on the weather, you can relax in the rustic Stube or sit outside and enjoy the magnificent view, which extends to the Karawanken in the south. Typical Carinthian fare is served: from refreshing juices to typical Brettljausen.
Idyllic location at the Grünsee: the Karlhütte
At the Karlhütte at the Grünsee Lake, the hosts Isabella and Sepp look forward to your visit. The hut owners spoil you with typical regional specialties such as Carinthian Reindling or Ritschert, soups, Kaiserschmarrn, strudels, and home-distilled stone pine schnapps. You can either sit in the Stube or enjoy the fragrant Alpine air and magnificent views of the Nock Mountains outdoors. Little guests are especially thrilled by the goats and rabbits to admire here. It's only about a half-hour walk from our hiking hotel in Carinthia to the Karlhütte.
