From the Orient to Austria.
Traveling to the Orient inspired Barbara and Peter Leeb to build the Hammam. They were impressed by the special form of bathing culture. To ensure authenticity in the Hochschober, the couple visited numerous Hammams and commissioned architects from Istanbul. In December 1998, the first Hammam in the Austrian Alps opened.
The Hammam bathing culture is thousands of years old. In the Orient, where water was a rare commodity, it was highly valued. But a Hammam is not just a place to cleanse oneself. It has always been a meeting place to exchange news and conduct business. Conversations are therefore common and allowed.
For those who want to celebrate the Hammam ritual in a typical way, choose a Hammam washing. The well-trained Hammam masters at Hotel Hochschober offer various wellness options. All include scrubs performed with the scrubbing glove "Kese", pouring with cold and warm water, wonderfully gentle cleansing coated in foam, and a massage. To top off the experience, tea and sweets await in the Sultan's Chamber.
